but i'm also only allowed to buy records with money i make selling records, and my sale inventory has been dwindling. mainly because i can't go browse, an activity which i'm learning is a major source of stress relief in my life. i'm enjoying throwing on some longtime faves and discovering new things in them. I'm not a gearhound (all of my gear was either a craigslist deal or, in the case of my amp, something i've had for more than 20 years), but i do like when you get a new component like a cartridge or speakers that suddenly makes things sound new again. The bass on these is pretty robust, they must be fairly audible to my upstairs neighbors.but it's really hard not to keep these cranking until late but a friend of mine who is handy with electronics was able to fix them up in exchange for a decent condenser mic, and goddamn if they aren't the best sounding speakers I've ever had (not a high bar-i've mostly been using the same 90s bose bookshelf speakers since college).

and i've had nothing but terrible experiences with professional repair. I've had these klh model 6 speakers for years-they were my father-in-law's, once upon a time-but they've needed some work that is well beyond anything i'm capable of.
